Job overview

Reports to Director of Development. Must be an excellent, crisp writer and communicator . Plans, manages, and executes comprehensive fundraising plans for corporate and foundation donations to MASS MoCA, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporations, corporate foundations, and private sponsorship donations. Actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities, that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of MASS MoCA.

Collaborates with other members of the development team to create fundraising project summaries, funding proposals, stewardship reports, and other written materials for internal and external audiences. Serves as project manager, editor, and/or principal writer for a wide variety of print and electronic development projects, including funding proposals for individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations; capital campaign-related promotional materials; annual stewardship reports for select foundation donors; and project summaries for a diverse array of fundraising goals.
Minimum requirements for applicants

Bachelor's degree needed, Masters preferred
5 years of professional experience in writing for development, communications, media relations, or related field
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures related to the position, including: expertise in use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax; familiarity with appropriate business software applications; use of best practices in proposal development and foundation and corporation relations; ability to conduct research; understanding of branding and positioning strategies for the museum and for specific projects; ability to "ghost-write" for various museum administrators, staff, and volunteers; ability to learn subject-specific terminology about art for use in developing written materials
