Manufacturing Development Lab Technician

Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Lab Material Planner. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Creates production and material plans to include inventory goals and schedules
Oversees the schedule and ensures compliance with material requirements for manufacturing
Manages the procurement planning for a medium size program and ensures materials are available according to schedules
May assist in the preparation of material proposals
Maintains forecast in the production and material planning tool and update as required
Develops understanding of relationships between various support functions and disciplines
May develop material cost strategies and coordinate target pricing with supply chain
Negotiates schedules with program based on material availability
Assists with material system testing for enhancements and/or modifications when requested
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
In-depth understanding of MRP/ERP principles
In-depth understanding of negotiation and persuasion skills
Ability to problem solve utilizing analytical skills
Ability to multi-task while maintaining focus on details
Ability to prioritize program material needs with supply chain and internal shops as appropriate
In-depth understanding of concurrent engineering principles
Ability to understand engineering changes and their effect on the bill of material
In-depth understanding of government compliance regulations
Ability to understand, research and reconcile financial errors as job requires
