Clinical Social Worker

Austen Riggs Center, a psychiatric hospital/residential treatment program with a completely voluntary and open setting, seeks an additional clinical social worker to serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary psychodynamic treatment team.

Working with psychiatrically complex patients and their families, social workers conduct patient and family assessments, provide family education, consultation and family therapy; as well as dynamic casework services for patients including discharge planning. Social workers can enhance and broaden their clinical practice through intensive clinical supervision and multiple learning venues.
The Riggs treatment approach centers around the importance of therapeutic, peer, and family relationships, patient authority, and the meaning of symptoms. Social workers are immersed in an intellectually stimulating learning environment that values ongoing professional development. Riggs encourages clinical growth and offers multiple learning opportunities and resources to pursue additional clinical interests such as group work, interdisciplinary committee work, presenting at conferences, writing for publication, research and participation in seminars and conferences including opportunities to learn from guest lecturers and visiting scholars.
As a member of the clinical staff, you will work side by side with clinicians who are passionate and committed to the Riggs’ clinical mission that encompasses patient authority, relationships, meaning and context.
Qualifications: MSW with LCSW or LICSW; Massachusetts license or eligibility. Three years post-MSW experience. Specific training and clinical experience as a family therapist preferable. Clinical social work experience from a psychodynamic perspective preferable.
