Our Special Education School located in Richmond, MA (Pittsfield/Richmond border) is currently looking for a part-time Registered Nurse to work in it's school. The ideal candidate will have either pediatric nursing experience, or experience as a school or residential nurse.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – SCHOOL PROGRAM:
1.Work closely with team members to ensure that the medical needs of the children are being met, which includes attendance at relevant team meetings regarding service planning and delivery. Assess and determine the course of action for medical needs when identified.
2.Provide appropriate in-service training for relevant School personnel regarding general medical issues, basic First Aid training, Medication Administration and Effects, and OSHA training as needed.
3.Obtain, maintain, and update medical and dental records for all school students.
4.Provide examination when students have reported a medical concern or not feeling well.
5.Participate in the development and monitoring of Health Care Manual and Procedures. Maintain and update these policies as indicated.
6.Complete required documentation in a professional and timely manner per Agency and Program procedures.
7.Meet regularly with School Director and staff meetings as requested.
8.Carry notification and consultation cell phone and respond in a timely manner.
9.Demonstrate a continued awareness and commitment to cultural diversity, religious and personal values, and traditions of persons served and their families in order to accomplish the mission of the organization.
10.Participate as a member of the professional treatment team.
11.Demonstrate an awareness and knowledge of Agency policies, practices and procedures, and adhere to the rules and regulations of the Agency.
12.Maintain individual productivity and support program effectiveness by being on time and available for work.
13.Develop and maintain a school health program in conjunction with classroom teachers.
14. Participate in the development and monitoring of School Medical Policies and Procedures; Maintain and update these policies as indicated.
15.Conduct necessary health screenings (Vision, Hearing, Posture & BMI) as required by state regulations.
16.Dispense medications to students when necessary during school hours.
17.Order and supply the school with necessary medical supplies.
18.Perform other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.
19.Evaluate students after a restraint has occurred.
20.Consultation to students and staff as medical concerns arise.
21.Participate in appropriate school In-Service day.
Requires a current R.N. license by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and MAP certification.
2.Requires relevant R.N. experience with children and families, knowledge of residential and/or school treatment nursing and experience working with children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
3.Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
4.Requires reliable transportation, as attendance at meetings and multiple sites will be mandated.
