1. Bachelor's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods and nutrition, or nutrition education. 2. Master's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, or food and nutrition or Registration with the American Dietetic Association, desired. 3. One year's experience in clinical or community nutrition, preferred. 4. Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities. 5. Good communications skills. 6. Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population. 7. Availability to work at multiple WIC sites and during program clinic hours as needed. The Nutritionist must be registered through the American Dietetic Association and must maintain certification at all times. Description:
WIC Nutritionist counsels, educates, and develops therapeutic nutritional goals for clients of WIC. S/he contributes to the mission of CHP. **This position is for 29hrs/week until July first, at which point it will be a per diem position.

Responsibilities include:
1. Provides nutrition care to high-risk women, infants and children under the supervision of the senior nutritionist, including all aspects of:
• Anthropometric and hematological data collection.
• Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription.
• Counseling and education.
• Documentation and data entry.
• Referrals to other health and social services.
• Follow-up nutrition education.

2. Participates in planning, development and evaluation of:
• Educational materials and group nutrition education sessions.
• Participant counseling and education strategies.
• Nutrition in-services and outreach activities.
• Nutrition policies.
3. Assists senior nutritionist in:
• Training paraprofessional WIC staff.
• Conducting quality assurance activities.
4. Communicates with health care community on issues pertaining to participant needs.
5. Provides nutrition care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed.
6. Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements:

o Schedules patients to achieve greatest number of encounters each day. For example, at NHC, strives to see a minimum of 6 patients a day, 8 or more is preferred. In order to achieve this minimum, patients should be scheduled every 30 minutes and the first patient of the day should be seen no later than 30 minutes from start of day and ending up to 30 minutes before end of day.

Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; has ability to effectively present information to physicians and CHP management.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
