Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon’s Rock, located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, seeks an experienced and knowledgeable professional to support the Business Office of the College.

The Student Accounts Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, management, and daily operations of student accounting processes in accordance with federal law, state law, and Simon’s Rock policies. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Student Accounts Manager performs the following duties:

  • Manages all student billing processes including applying costs and fees to accounts, processing monthly billing, applying payments to student accounts, and creating payment plans
  • Manages the billing for student health insurance and tuition refund plans, including coordinating with the third-party vendors to ensure accurate lists and vendor invoices
  • Maintains the accuracy of student accounts and resolves problems and questions with students or parents regarding student accounts
  • Manages billing for activities outside of the traditional semesters (summer, intersession, J-Term, etc)
  • Works closely with other departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, Admissions, Wellness Center, and Campus Life to ensure accurate charges and to make corrections when necessary
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with students and families
  • Manages the preparation and distribution of annual 1098-T forms
  • Adjusts student accounts when necessary and submits appropriate refund requests
  • Maintains and updates relevant website information
  • Works with the Business Office to develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures in all aspects of student accounts, including internal controls
  • Serves as the back-up for Student Financial Aid Services
  • Sustains central institutional mission by performing other related duties as requested.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including Excel) and Google Workspace
  • Experience working with student accounts in a school or college setting
  • Experience in Banner by Ellucian financial applications preferred
  • Basic accounting skills and payment processing experience
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
  • Approachable, collaborative, service-oriented interpersonal manner
  • Distinct record of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Proven background in attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to communicate effectively and handle situations tactfully and courteously with a diverse audience
