Special Education Teacher (6)
The North Adams Public Schools has anticipated openings for 6 Special Education Teachers. One position is at Brayton Elementary School. Applicant will need to teach core classes and provide Special Education support to students in the Steeples Program.
2 positions are at Colegrove Park Elementary and require the applicant to hold Massachusetts DESE licensure for Mild to Moderate Disabilities or Moderate to Severe Disabilities. Bachelor’s Degree.
2 additional positions at Colegrove Park Elementary require the applicant to hold Massachusetts DESE licensure for Moderate to Severe Disabilities. Bachelor’s Degree.
1 position at Drury High School for the Adult Transition Program requires the applicant to hold Massachusetts DESE licensure for Mild to Moderate Disabilities or Moderate to Severe Disabilities. Bachelor’s Degree. Experience Working with 18-22 year old adult transition students preferred.

Massachusetts DESE licensure for Mild to Moderate Disabilities or Moderate to Severe Disabilities. Bachelor’s Degree. Prior work experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred. Experience working with students with social/emotional disabilities preferred.
Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines. The applicant may be required to restrain special education students.
Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids. The occupant may come into contact with medical and/or bodily fluids.
