Seeking a Behavior Technician at Colegrove Park Elementary School.

Job Goal:         To provide the best educational experience for the schools’ students.

Supervision:    Reports to Building Principal and Director of Student Support Services.

Performance Responsibilities:

The Behavior Technician functions as a member of the school team and provides direct supervision and training to students as assigned by the building principal and under the supervision of the districts BCBA/BCaBA consultant.

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to provide a highly structured approach to behavioral management
  • Work with students to reduce behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, property destruction, disruption
  • Use strategies provided by the BCBA (ie discrete trial training) to instruct students in accordance with Individualized Education Programs
  • Provide mentoring and direct support to students during specified un-structured times of the day (lunch, recess, etc)
  • Collect data on behavioral interventions and assist in monitoring progress
  • With teachers and other support staff, implement elements of student behavior intervention plans under the supervision of the BCBA and Special Education Coordinator
  • Participate in meetings (IEP, Behavior Plan, etc.) as necessary.

    • Associates degree or equivalent course hours
    • Experience working with students that have moderate to severe social emotional and behavioral disabilities.
    • Good written and verbal skills.
    • Must be willing to undergo additional specialized training as necessary
    • Certification and/or experience as a Registered Behavior Technician

Physical Requirements:           The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally.  There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines. 

Environmental Conditions:     The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.
