Under the general direction of the Teacher, the Paraprofessional will provide classroom and student support by various means, dependent upon the needs of the student. The paraprofessional contributes to the effectiveness of the teaching team using positive communication, problem-solving, and conflict management strategies, while maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality.
Responsibilities: Assists in meeting the instructional needs of the students under the direction of the classroom teacher; Assist with the supervision of students while promoting activities to enhance the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of students; Interacts appropriately with students, and assists in creating an environment conducive to learning; Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with students, teachers, parents and school employees; Monitors student behavior in classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc. as necessary; Assists in maintaining discipline standards according to the regulations of the school district and the assigned teacher; Assists with handling of specialized equipment, computer, software, assistive language devices, etc. as directed by the classroom teacher.
1-3 years of experience with children in an educational environment preferred
Must clear all state and federal background checks
