Berkshire Children and Families

Non-profit Human Service Berkshire Children & Families (BCF,) was founded in 1887 and has been serving Western Massachusetts families for more than 125 years. Throughout its history, the well-being of at-risk children and families has been central to its mission. Today, the agency's work is concentrated in three key areas: early education and care; parenting and family support; and intensive foster care and adoption. Most of the families we serve are in Berkshire County and in the Pioneer Valley; most live in poverty or have very low incomes, and most have experienced trauma in their lives. The agency's strategic plan mandates a focus on prevention: breaking the cycles that impede children and families from living into their potential to be strong, contributing citizens. As such, our programs strive for outcomes that will ensure a child's success in school; help parents achieve their educational and job goals; connect families with community resources; strengthen parent-child relationships and find stable, caring homes for children who need them.
