Job Description

Position Summary:
Plans, directs, and coordinates all manufacturing/production activities for the facility; expedites the flow of materials; serves as Safety, Quality and Lean Champion for the facility; assists in coordinating all peripheral activities of the support staff to ensure delivery of quality products within prescribed time frame and margin parameters.

Operations Management
  • Reviews sales orders and customer specifications to create a production schedule maximizing the use of resources (Materials, Manpower, Machines) to determine delivery time frames, level of effort required, procedures for accomplishing, and by advocating the allotment of available resources to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Reviews product specifications and quality requirements on a daily basis in support of the production schedule.
  • Hires, trains and supervises a staff in support of manufacturing initiatives.
  • Prepares and analysis financial, productivity and quality reports in order to ensure profitability, labor content % and internal margin.
  • Participate in customer meetings and confer with production staff to ensure focus on his/her customers.
  • Prepares, communicates, and reviews status reports to ensure we maintain Minimum - Target - Maximum finished goods inventory levels as prescribed by Sales and/or the customer.
  • Prepares project/customer reports and analysis for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with Sales, Engineering and production personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

Scheduling/Demand
  • Reviews sales orders and customer specifications to create a production schedule maximizing the use of resources (Materials, Manpower, Machines) to determine delivery time frames, level of effort required, procedures for accomplishing, and by advocating the allotment of available resources to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Reviews product specifications and quality requirements on a daily basis in support of the production schedule.
  • Analyzes Open Sales Orders, Production Priority Reports (PPR's) and other information to determine demand;
  • Ensures proper preparation of production and shipping schedules;
  • Generates critical documentation controlling the flow of materials, including the Pick List & Work Order Travelers, Production Drawings/Specs; Print Labels and/or Tags.

Materials
  • Review open sales orders and backlogs daily – run CIB (Can I Build?);
  • Calculates and determines the amount of material required to complete job orders;
  • Orders materials; negotiates POs with suppliers;
  • Ensures timely delivery of materials by tracking/monitoring deliveries and expediting as necessary;
  • Controls vital company records relating to material deliveries, including updates to the ERP system, recording daily production and POP;
  • Validates receipt against order to identify discrepancies and begins corrective action including escalation of problems to Operations Manager, Inside Sales as necessary.

Inventory
  • Monitors/controls movement of material in the ERP system and in customer portals;
  • Manage, review and report monthly cycle counts and physical inventories.

Secondary duties:
  • Prepares system generated Packing Slips, UPS/FedEx labels and other shipping paperwork; call freight carriers
  • Prepares and/or supports the preparations of DPR (Daily production report) and Wages by Day
  • Prepares and/or provides supporting documentation to needed to develop monthly production and shipping budgets; participates in planning sessions
  • Assigns Item numbers, enters Bills-of-Materials, etc. in the ERP system for Material Coordination
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required and/or ten to fifteen years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to establish identity and US work authorized.
  • Must be able to lead a diverse workforce of 25+ employees.
  • Must have prior supervisory/management experience and be familiar with employment laws and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents; write reports and business correspondence; ability to present information and respond to questions. 
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with the ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Internet and the ability to navigate to find information.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, etc. to practical situations.
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
