Job Description :
Nonotuck Resources Associates ( is a community-based agency that provides residential services to people with Alzheimer’s, autism, brain injuries, cancer, muscular dystrophy and other intellectual and physical disabilities. Believing in the transformative power of caring for a person in a home-setting, we support individuals thorough matching them with caring providers who open their hearts and homes to our members as Shared Living Providers (SLPs). SLPs need to provide a flexible and supportive environment where the individual they are supporting will feel safe and secure.

We are currently searching for someone in the Berkshires who would like to be a shared living provider for a 38 year-old woman: She loves arts and crafts and making jewelry which she sells at craft fairs and church functions. She also loves listening to a variety of music on her tablet, hiking and shopping. Ideally she would like to live with a caring, flexible woman or couple who has an extra bedroom and bathroom in the Berkshires. If you are someone who wants to do meaningful work in a non-traditional setting this could be just the situation for you!

She is willing to participate in church, craft fairs and enjoys playing an active role within the community. She is looking for a provider who can guide and support her in being involved, will be her friend, and is patient and kind. She can be thoughtful and kind, especially to those who need more help than herself. She also enjoys attending family functions with caregivers and feeling involved with extended family.

She attends a day program about 30 hours a week which she generally enjoys. She is very independent with most daily living tasks and enjoys being challenged vocationally. Our vision is that the home she and her provider share will be peaceful, quiet and comfortable-a place where she can regroup and gather her thoughts when necessary and where she can have friends.
You will be sharing your home and life and providing a flexible and supportive environment where she will feel safe, secure and included. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: planning, preparing and sharing meals together each day, going to appointments, medication management and participating in community and social activities. You may also need to provide assistance, supervision and teaching in areas identified in her Care Plan. In addition, the provider will need to provide great patience and emotional support.

The ideal provider will be a couple or single woman without children living in the home. The provider should also have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health and behavioral challenges.
Requirements :
The following resources will be available:

Generous stipend
24- Hour emergency on-call assistance
Monthly in-home visits from a Care Manager
Access to clinicians for additional support
Training on home safety skills, medication management, and First Aid/CPR

Providers must:
Have a valid driver's license
Own their own vehicle
Pass a standard CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and Fingerprinting check
Provide a separate bedroom for individual

When searching for shared living providers we will consider applicants who are single, in a couple, families, people with children, with pets, and people with or without experience living in single family home or apartment with an extra bedroom. This is not a CNA position, but one in which the person you support will live with you as a part of your extended family, sharing your daily life as you provide care and support for them to become fully-engaged individuals at home and in the community.
