Professional, administrative, technical and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of the National Electric Code, Massachusetts Electrical Code, City ordinances, and other applicable codes and provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws relating to electrical installations; other related work, as required. Visits construction sites and residences, performs inspection, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Some work is performed in office conditions; primarily involves field visits with exposure to variable weather conditions, with occasional walking, standing and climbing. Exposure to loud noise and the hazards associated with construction sites, including exposure to potentially dangerous materials and electrical wiring. The workload fluctuates according to construction activity and other events; attends meetings of City boards.
While performing the duties of the Senior Wire Inspector, the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.
Operates standard office equipment including computers and keyboards, an automobile, and inspection tools; moves throughout the office/building and inspection sites which may include flights of stairs. Lifts/moves objects weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
Starting salary $25.04 - $26.43
Annual Increases up to $ 31.96
