Company Description: Berkshire County Head Start is a non-profit organization that provides early childhood education and care. Our organization offers a half-day pre-school program in 6 sites throughout Berkshire County. In North Adams, Pittsfield and Great Barrington we also provide full-day child care services for families while they work, go to school, or look for employment.
We are hiring for a full time Family Advocate for our Meadow Lane Site.
The Family Advocate’s primary responsibility is to develop goal-directed relationships with families. The Family Advocate demonstrates a keen understanding that family well-being is a powerful predictor of positive child outcomes and directly impacts children’s school readiness by establishing supportive, professional, and strength-based relationships with families to promote family growth and self-sufficiency. The Family Advocate uses knowledge of the principles of family engagement to support families in their roles as their child’s first and most important teacher and encourages parent-child interactions that promote school readiness, healthy development, and enhance the family’s well-being. Family Advocates take the lead in building social networks among families and enhance parent leadership and advocacy skills through participation in program governance.
This position also works with other staff in providing and facilitating family engagement activities and community events. The Family Advocate also assists in the organization’s effort to complete outreach, recruitment and registration for our program.
Bachelors’ Degree from an *accredited institution in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum of (3) years’ experience in a role in a family services environment
