General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Surface Ship Systems Engineer. In this role you will work as part of an integrated Command and Control Team on various technical tasks and design efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship Program and Surface Ship Programs; supporting design Investigations and efforts related to the Integrated Combat Management Systems and its associated Weapons and Sensors. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. This opportunity will allow you to join the growing Surface Ship Team in Pittsfield MA. You will be working on Navy Ships including the Independence Variant of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF), and potential new Navy Platforms. The core mission system of the Littoral Combat Ship Independence Variant is built on General Dynamics' computing infrastructure. Our computing technology controls everything from ship navigation to firing weapons and is designed to maximize automation, enabling sailors to focus on their missions. You will be involved with the end-to-end design, production, delivery, and sustainment of the ships and work closely with the customer and sailors as the end user of the product to ensure mission alignment and product quality. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Preferred Degree Types and Experiences:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Engineering Field, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science preferred. Other degrees will be considered based on previous work experiences. Preference for candidate with Software Coding or Scripting Skills.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
