2022-58196 - Surface Ship Combat Systems Engineer

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Surface Ship Systems Engineer.  In this role you will work as part of an integrated Command and Control Team on various technical tasks and design efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship Program and Surface Ship Programs; supporting design Investigations and efforts related to the Integrated Combat Management Systems and its associated Weapons and Sensors. This opportunity will allow you to join the growing Surface Ship Team in Pittsfield MA. You will be working on Navy Ships including the Independence Variant of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF), and potential new Navy Platforms. The core mission system of the Littoral Combat Ship Independence Variant is built on General Dynamics' computing infrastructure. Our computing technology controls everything from ship navigation to firing weapons and is designed to maximize automation, enabling sailors to focus on their missions. You will be involved with the end-to-end design, production, delivery, and sustainment of the ships and work closely with the customer and sailors as the end user of the product to ensure mission alignment and product quality. Representative Tasks and Duties

• Work as part of an integrated Command and Control Team on various technical tasks and design efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship Program and Surface Ship Programs.
• Support Design Investigations and Efforts related to the Integrated Combat Management Systems and its associated Weapons and Sensors.
• Support the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
• Support development of and evaluation of interfaces and weapon systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
• Support requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
• Support Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
• Support design of processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
• Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
• Travel may be required

Preferred Degree Types and Experiences:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Engineering Field, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science preferred. Other degrees will be considered based on previous work experiences. Preference for candidate with Software Coding or Scripting Skills.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
