General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Technical Manager-Configuration Management.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.




REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
•Supervises Configuration and Data Management staff
•Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals
•Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization
•Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
•Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
•Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities
•Typically has responsibility for managing people, including performance evaluations
•Handles staffing and headcount of direct reports. Performs Staffing analysis to indicate where staffing adjustments are needed
•Reviews and approves documents to determine requirements are met for each phase of project
•Ensures that documentation and production projects meet established quality standards, budgets, and deadlines
•Support proposals by reviewing customer SOW and/or other proposal documentation that pertains to CDM to identify the full scope and effort to be bid. Approves proposal bids
•Acts as primary liaison between Program Management and other functional groups and resolves any issues regarding configuration management documentation
•Handles the employment, training, motivation, discipline and development of direct reports
•Contributes to the development of department policies and procedures
•Contributes to the creation of training material and provides training to employees both internal and external to the department
•Contributes and leads Tiger teams resolving program and company issues
•Interfaces with co-workers within the department
•Frequent interaction with employees and Management outside of the department
•Occasional external contact with customers and other business units of the company

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Excellent time management skills
•Advanced knowledge of industry practices
•Advanced understanding of Software Configuration Management builds practices
•Advanced understanding in the management of Third Party Software
•Highly proficient in the use of Product Data Management (PDM) applications
•Advanced experience using Software Configuration Management Applications
•Highly proficient in the use of all MS Office Suite applications
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•Excellent attention to detail
•Excellent organizational skills
•Excellent multi-tasking skills
•Excellent interpersonal skills
•Security clearance may be required
•First level of supervision in the department
•Works without appreciable direction on issues of diverse scope
•Grasps and applies new information quickly; handles more complex assignments
•Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
•Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall quality and efficiency

Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations




CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
