Accountant I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant I is a member of the Kripalu Finance Department which is growing.  We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to our expansion and is a team player. This role is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance by preparing reports and statements. The successful candidate will have keen attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well with others.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Participates in monthly accounting activities including preparation of journal entries, check runs, accounts payable processing, cash receipts, month end accruals and account analysis.
• Ensures that general ledger and sub-ledger are reconciled with explanations for reconciling items. 
• Remains current regarding GAAP and FASB rules
• Ensures that supporting documentation is complete and transparent in electronic reconciliation files.  
• Assist in the monthly review of financials to identify errors in posting and correcting 
• Administration of company purchasing accounts
• Participate in document retention and research projects
• Other financial projects as they arise

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2-3 years related experience or working toward degree with experience.
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principals.
• Ability to work independently and with the team, manage shifting priorities and with attention to detail.
• Ability to learn quickly and perform tasks with multiple steps within multiple software systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs, excel, outlook, and word.  
• Experience with Accounting Software, including importing and exporting data, and uploads.
• Helpful- knowledge of Avid Exchange (or other bill pay) and Navision or other Accounting Software Packages
