Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents to support and make recommendations for primarily complex $1MM+ Business Banking credit requests.  The AVP Business Banking Underwriting Officer provides support for the deal team in analysis, underwriting, structuring, and decisioning recommendations.  In addition, the AVP Business Banking Underwriting Officer may prepare ROE analysis.  This position will require independent judgment and analytical skills.

Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for underwriting all business opportunities.
Communicates and maintains active dialogue with the Relationship Manager and, when appropriate, the Client.
Accumulates all data necessary to perform focused analysis, including recommendations with respect to deal structure.
Reviews, spreads and analyzes financial statements and tax returns, projection models, and all other relevant financial and non-financial data to develop a concise focused analytical foundation for a credit decision. Assesses the adequacy of collateral. Analyzes and assesses trends, ratios, and cash flow. 
Prepares thorough credit underwriting reports to present to the approving Credit Officer to facilitate lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans and other bank facilities for all business opportunities, with a focus on more complex credits. Reports include financial trends, industry concerns and mitigating factors, market share trends and other pertinent underwriting issues, as well as a recommended risk rating and a complete and accurate statement of the bank’s borrowing relationship.
Ensures underwriting and structuring recommendations reflect commitment to strong asset quality.
Works closely in a consultative capacity with Relationship Managers in evaluating more complex credit requests, which may include accompanying them to visit customers, prospects, and collateral sites. 
Works in coordination with the Loan Closers, Relationship Manager and Documentation Prep Team in obtaining and negotiating necessary documentation. Performs Commitment Letter review to assure that the documentation correctly reflects rates, terms and special conditions. 
Ensure risk rating accuracy and compliance with Credit Policy.
Acts as resource and reference in the training of less experienced credit staff. 
Assumes additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the FVP Business Banking Credit Officer to ensure that underwriting objectives throughout the bank are met.
Coordinates with both the Relationship and Portfolio Managers in making recommendations regarding the extension of credit to new and existing Business Banking clients.  In addition, works closely with Relationship Managers in making recommendations on business relationships with Business Banking clients.
Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.
May conduct periodic site visits with the Relationship Manager to assess management and business conditions.
Assists in department objectives by determining to extend credit to complex Business Banking relationships. 
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field.

At least 5-7 years credit analysis/lending experience.
Experience underwriting moderate to complex business credit transactions

Skills & Knowledge:
Demonstrated high level of credit analysis/underwriting skills, financial acumen and decision/solution effectiveness.
Effective written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Computer skills (Word, Excel & Power Point)
