| Transition to Adulthood Program Counselor Job Summary: The Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) Counselor helps students with disabilities prepare for their transition from special education to adulthood. The TAP Counselor works with students aged 14-21 who are attending public, private and residential schools throughout Berkshire County. The Counselor serves as a role model and provides advocacy, skills training, and peer counseling to identified students with disabilities. The TAP Counselor teaches the students independent living skills and helps them gain the self-confidence for their entry into the adult world. | |

| Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in a related field with a minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities. Experience in special education including an understanding of the 688 referral process, IEPs and youth transition. Prior special education teaching experience a plus. S.H.I.N.E. certification either at the time of hire or within the first three months of employment. Must have a valid driver's license and own transportation. Strong written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy. An appropriate level of experience and education will be considered. | |
