This position reports to the Director of Inspectional Services and is responsible for ensuring establishments are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local health, housing, food safety and other sanitary codes. Duties include conducting inspections and investigations relating to complaints regarding housing and vacant properties, lead paint, asbestos, Title V / Septic, restaurants and other food handling establishments along with nuisances, blight and property maintenance violations to protect public safety and/or environmental health and implements any necessary enforcement actions. Assists in the investigations of food-borne illness occurrences and responds to public health emergencies. Performs or arranges for laboratory tests and analyses and prepares reports on findings. Prepares reports, issues orders and seeks collaborative guidance from supervisors on enforcement methods for non-compliance, including court complaints and testifies in court as required. Attends meetings, maintains records and statistical data, and performs administrative duties. Provides education to various groups and assists in development of programs and procedures for implementation regarding environmental sanitation and public health and safety matters. Assists in the development of new regulations in compliance with federal and state regulations in conjunction with the Board of Health.
This is a full-time, 35-hour per week position with benefits including paid time-off, State/Federal Holidays, pension, health, life and dental insurance. Deferred compensation plans are also available.
