BEN GARVER — THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE Pittsfield Police Chief Michael Wynn and Brian Andrews of County Ambulance, and Elk member, discuss the need and use of self aid kits for the PPD. Pittsfield police officers will all be issued kits to stop bleeding in traumatic situations in the pouches on their body armor. The kits, donated by the local Elks Lodge # 272 and the Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant, will allow the officers to stop bleeding on themselves or a victim in emergency situations. Each kit contains a tourniquet, clotting agent and some bandages. The kits fit snugly in the vest.
