Description: | Benefits Support Specialist (Part-Time – 20 Hours/Week)The Benefits Support Specialist provides direct support to older adults and individuals with disabilities in accessing MassHealth and other public benefit programs. This position focuses on benefit eligibility screening, application assistance, and navigation of MassHealth-related services and programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).Responsibilities include helping individuals understand available benefits, determining eligibility, assisting with completing and submitting applications, gathering required documentation, and navigating the enrollment and renewal process. The specialist will provide support by telephone, virtually, and in person based on the needs of the individual.The Benefits Support Specialist will complete self-paced virtual training to become a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) and will support MassHealth members age 65 and older through the redetermination process. This includes completing training on the MassHealth Application for Health Coverage for Seniors and People Needing Long-Term Care Services (SACA). |
| Requirements: | Qualifications - Associate’s degree required
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in elder services, social services, health care, benefits counseling, or a related field
- Knowledge of public benefits, MassHealth, or health coverage programs preferred
- SHINE and/or Certified Application Counselor (CAC) experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and client support skills
