Description: | POSITION SUMMARY The Commercial Lending Portfolio Manager (PM) supports the bank’s commercial lenders and credit department by assisting in the management, analysis, and servicing of commercial credit relationships. This role will be actively involved in evaluating branch referrals, assisting with loan requests and credit reviews in coordination with commercial loan officers and the credit department. The PM will play a key role in preliminary loan triage, credit analysis, documentation, and ongoing client service, helping ensure the quality and efficiency of the commercial lending process. Interested PM incumbents may develop into a commercial loan officer depending on skill development, training, interest and available opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Loan Origination & Operations - Review and triage new loan applications, particularly branch referrals of new credits. - Pull credit reports, verify borrower information, and identify key risk factors. - Perform cash flow calculations and financial analyses to support loan decisioning - Review interim financial statements and balance sheets to assess borrower health. - May assist with online applications under the small business loan program, as needed.
Portfolio & Relationship Support - Support lenders with underwriting loan requests; may assist the credit department with requests and reviews as needed. - Prepare supporting analysis and documentation for loan packages and credit files. - Tracks new loan application needs, including the ordering and delivery of appraisals and environmental due diligence, as required. - Assist lenders in servicing existing relationships, including direct customer contact as needed. - Gathers annual financial statements and tax returns to facilitate annual credit reviews.
Documentation & Compliance - Assemble and maintain complete loan and credit file documentation in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. - Track loan covenants, collateral requirements, and compliance obligations. - Support audits, loan reviews, and examinations as required. Business Development - Represent the bank at public functions (i.e. Chamber events, 1Berkshire, ribbon cutting and open houses). - Assist lenders and Retail staff with opportunity identification, particularly within markets where strategic growth is priority. May call on customer prospects within their credit exposure authority to help grow loans, deposit and cash management products, and identify referral opportunities for other bank areas (i.e. planning and wealth management). |
| Requirements: | Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred. - 2–5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, portfolio management, or related banking role. - Strong skills in financial statement review, cash flow analysis, and credit underwriting. - Familiarity with commercial loan structures, credit line management, and construction lending processes. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and loan/credit systems. - Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal collaboration and client contact.
