Description:

Elizabeth Freeman Center (EFC) seeks a passionate bilingual (English and Spanish) counselor/advocate to work in its Pittsfield office to provide counseling and advocacy for immigrant survivors of domestic, dating and sexual violence.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support and counseling to immigrant survivors of domestic and sexual violence
  • Help survivors with safety planning, emergency needs, housing, benefits, and more
  • Offer individual and group counseling
  • Immigration advocacy
  • Connect clients to other EFC programs and community services
  • Participate in outreach, education, and community events
  • Keep accurate computer records and maintain confidentiality
  • Support EFC’s mission through all work
  • Travel to EFC site office in Great Barrington 1-2 days a week to support immigrant survivors in South County

Work Hours:  40 hours per week. EFC office hours are 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work required for outreach and counseling activities

This position begins at $24.00 per hour ($49,920 annually) with additional increments for other frequently used languages, special skills and education, and a year-end stipend depending on funding. EFC pays 85% of health insurance premiums and contributes to an FSA. EFC has generous paid leave as well as other benefits.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Degree preferred, but relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience working with immigrant adults and/or children affected by trauma, domestic violence, or related issues is a plus
  • Commitment to serving diverse communities (e.g. LGBTQ+, rural, immigrants, people with disabilities)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Willingness to transport clients when safety is not an issue
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check-CORI, be found suitable to work with children, and have valid Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable transportation.
