Description:

The Lead Parking Attendant’s primary responsibility is to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly parking lot. They work with a rotating team of Operation Assistants to greet patrons as they arrive, directing them to parking areas or spaces, and assisting them in locating their vehicles. The Lead Parking Attendant will be among the first staff members visitors interact with and thus is responsible for creating a welcoming, calm, and positive environment.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and provide courteous service to all Patrons.
  • Manage the parking lot during all festival show days as well as in the case of special events or activities. 
  • Direct motorists to parking areas or parking spaces using hand signals or flashlights as necessary.
  • Assist with locating vehicles or providing patrons with instructions for locating vehicles.
  • Direct Operations Assistant in their roles as parking attendants.
  • Remain in constant contact with the Operations Supervisor and Night Shift Manager.
  • Contact the Operations Supervisor and Night Shift Manager in the case of disputes or incidents. 
  • Take the lead in gathering information for incident reports in the case of a dispute or accident.
  • Assist in directing golf cart drivers for pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Assist Facilities, Safety and Security in maintaining a clean parking lot by leading regular cleanings and by reporting any areas in need of maintenance or repair.
  • Participate in the activation of Weather Plans for the Henry J. Leir Stage as well as other locations on campus.
  • Completion of Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competency Training (provided to all seasonal staff prior to the Festival)
Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to be helpful and adjust priorities at a moment’s notice.
  • Ability to stay calm, positive, and patient in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shift hours (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality.
  • Experience working as a parking lot attendant or other operational position.
  • Experience working in the performing arts industry.
  • Bystander Intervention Training or Experience.
  • Conflict resolution training.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Working in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions including inclement weather. 
  • Working 6-day work weeks including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends during Festival weeks and non-Festival programming.
  • Moving equipment up to 50 lbs alone or with assistance.
  • Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus.
  • Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Working at heights above 6 feet and up to 30 feet.
  • Ascending and descending straight and step ladders.
  • Operating push around or drivable person lifts including at heights.
  • Working in show conditions with theatrical and atmospheric elements including but not limited to: fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.
