Location: Pittsfield, MA Pay: $23.00–$27.00 per hour, based on experience and licensing Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Overtime: As needed Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Pittsfield, MA, is seeking an Industrial Wastewater Technician to join its facilities and environmental operations team. This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial wastewater treatment systems while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities - Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical dosing systems.
- Monitor treatment processes and check key operating parameters such as pH levels and flow rates.
- Perform hazardous waste inspections, shipping-related duties, training, and maintenance of storage areas in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Troubleshoot treatment system problems and perform routine and preventative maintenance.
- Clean equipment, replace worn parts, and assist with necessary repairs.
- Handle and apply wastewater treatment chemicals, including biocides, coagulants, and pH-adjusting agents.
- Maintain appropriate chemical inventory levels.
- Collect wastewater samples throughout the treatment process and perform required chemical and biological testing.
- Maintain accurate logs of process readings, test results, maintenance activities, incidents, and deviations.
- Follow established safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with wastewater treatment permits.
- Work closely with operators, engineers, supervisors, and other team members to improve system performance.
- Maintain and operate reverse osmosis systems.
- Maintain facility chiller water systems, including testing and adding inhibitor and biocide chemicals as needed.
Required Qualifications - Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Wastewater Level II license.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Reliable and punctual, with a consistent attendance record.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Comfortable working independently as well as within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience in industrial wastewater treatment, environmental operations, facilities maintenance, or a similar field.
- Vocational or technical training, particularly in machine shop, mechanical, or related disciplines.
- Current wastewater licensing is strongly preferred.
