Clarksburg School is seeking an energetic, student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our close-knit PreK–8 school community.

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position serving students from Preschool through Grade 8. We are looking for an educator who can build strong relationships with students across a wide range of ages and create engaging, inclusive physical education experiences that promote movement, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and lifelong wellness.

Because we are a small PreK–8 school, our teachers have the opportunity to know students and families well and to be an important part of the entire school community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in PreK through Grade 8.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment in which students of varying abilities and skill levels can participate successfully.
  • Teach skills related to physical fitness, movement, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Assess student growth and maintain appropriate records of student progress.
  • Adapt instruction and activities to meet individual student needs and provide accommodations as appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe and organized instructional environment and appropriately manage physical education equipment.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, special education staff, the school nurse, administration, and other members of the school community.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and schoolwide activities.
  • Support school community events and wellness initiatives, including opportunities such as Field Day.
  • The teaching assignment may include health and wellness instruction at selected grade levels based on school needs and the qualifications and licensure of the successful candidate.
  • Perform other professional responsibilities consistent with the teachers' collective bargaining agreement.

Compensation: Salary and benefits in accordance with the negotiated teachers' collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure in Physical Education, PreK–8, or eligibility for appropriate Massachusetts licensure.
  • Ability to provide engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction across the PreK–8 grade span.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and contribute to a supportive school community.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching physical education at the elementary and/or middle school level.
  • Experience working with students with a variety of learning, behavioral, and physical needs.
  • Background or experience in health and wellness education.
  • Massachusetts Comprehensive Health licensure or eligibility is a plus, but is not required for consideration.
