Description: | Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Hours: 25 hours per week Employment Status: Part-Time About the Position Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Nutrition Kitchen Assistant/Prep Person to support our Nutrition Program and daily meal operations. This position plays an important role in preparing and packaging nutritious meals for older adults and individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will work as part of a kitchen team and assist with food preparation, meal service, hot and cold meal packaging, brown bag assembly, bread bagging, stock organization, and kitchen sanitation. This is an active, hands-on position that is well suited for someone who enjoys working with food, staying organized, and contributing to a team that makes a difference in the community. Key Responsibilities - Assist with daily food preparation, including preparing, portioning, and assembling food items.
- Serve meals on the meal service line and replenish food as needed.
- Pack hot meals according to established procedures.
- Pack cold meals according to established procedures.
- Assemble brown bags containing items such as bread, milk, desserts, and other required meal components.
- Assist with bagging daily bread.
- Assist with portioning and packaging desserts and other meal components.
- Check packaged meals and meal components for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with putting away incoming food, supplies, and stock.
- Help maintain organized and properly stocked storage areas.
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, serving areas, and other assigned areas.
- Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, Nutrition Program staff, drivers, volunteers, and other personnel.
- Assist with other kitchen and meal production duties as assigned.

| Requirements: | Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food service, meal preparation, commercial kitchen operations, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and sanitation preferred.
- ServSafe or food handler certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification as required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, recipes, menus, and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Dependable and able to maintain regular attendance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Requirements This position requires extended periods of standing and walking, as well as frequent reaching, grasping, bending, and other physical activities associated with food preparation, meal packaging, serving, stock handling, and cleaning. The employee will routinely lift and carry food, supplies, meal containers, and other items weighing up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
