Project Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026 (Setup: Day-of / Strike: Night-of)
Total Compensation: $1,000 fixed budget ($600 flat labor fee + $400 dedicated materials budget)

Project Overview

We are seeking a talented, resourceful, and creative independent artist, collective member, or scenic designer to custom-decorate a party space for an event on Saturday, October 3. We want to work with someone who loves building atmospheric, experiential environments and knows how to use raw materials to maximize visual impact.

Compensation & Budget Structure

To respect your time and ensure the project is fully funded, we use a strict split-fee structure:

  • Artist Labor Fee: flat rate or hourly. This covers your initial design consultation, off-site fabrication, on-site installation, and post-event strike.
  • Materials Budget: dedicated fund. This is an independent fund for raw supplies (e.g., fabric, lighting, paper goods, hardware). Note: This is a direct purchase/reimbursement fund for supplies only. It does not roll over into the labor fee if unspent.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design Concept: Proposing a simple, 1-page visual mood board or bulleted list of your design plan before purchasing supplies
  • On-Site Installation: Arriving on the day of the event (Oct 3) to fully dress the space.
  • Strike: Returning at the conclusion of the event to safely take down and pack up the decorations.
Requirements:

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in scenic design, theater production, event decorating, or large-scale multimedia installation art.
  • Highly resourceful with a knack for transforming spaces using cost-effective, high-volume materials (e.g., textiles, paper, creative lighting elements).

Ability to work independently and manage a fixed materials budget effectively
