The Williams College Development Office is pleased to announce an opening for a Gift Planning Officer, reporting to the Executive Director of Gift Planning. We are looking for a mission-driven, relationship- and results-oriented professional with a strong work ethic and desire to learn the dynamic field of gift planning. As a Gift Planning Officer you would join a deeply collaborative Gift Planning team that markets, identifies, cultivates, solicits, administers and stewards life income gifts, bequests, and gifts of alternative assets. The Gift Planning team is a key player in Williams College's multi-year initiative-based fundraising campaigns in support of the visions laid out in its strategic plan.

Williams College is committed to building an inclusive community where members of all backgrounds can thrive. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups or those who have experience working with a broadly diverse student population to apply.

Applicants are encouraged to state in their cover letter what particular skills, strengths, and work or life experiences they will bring to the position and the college, and to reflect on their experience with and commitment to supporting diverse, inclusive, and equitable communities.

This role is a fulltime, yearround, regular appointment and is eligible for up to two days per week remote work from locations in MA, CT, NY, or VT subject to our remote and flexible working policy.

Responsibilities

As a Gift Planning Officer you will have an interesting array of responsibilities that span promoting planned gifts, having gift conversations with individual donors, and generating detailed financial calculations and explanations. You will also draft customized planned gift proposals, play an integral role in our marketing efforts, manage our legacy society and bequest intention data, and have the opportunity to lead our fundraising efforts within our new post-50th Reunion program. Gift Planning knowledge and experience is welcome, but not required because by engaging in this work, you will gain in depth gift planning knowledge and experience, as well as an understanding of related financial, estate, and tax planning.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years relevant experience required
  • Knowledge of gift planning, personal financial and tax planning preferred, while a capacity to learn it is essential
  • Ability to successfully manage simultaneous projects
  • Development and/or non-profit experience a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with an eye for details
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of current office software, including CRM, a plus
  • Availability for periodic evening and weekend events

Review of resumes will begin March 26, 2024, and continue until the position is filled. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Job Band 2-F.
