The City of Pittsfield's Council on Aging (COA) is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Kitchen Coordinator. Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent is expected to supply breakfast and lunch daily for Senior Center patrons.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide breakfast and lunch 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Prepare menu and prepare food for breakfast and lunch.
  • Shop for food and provide receipts to clerk.
  • Maintain café area and kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Maintain a budget as directed by the "Friends of the Council on Aging" and the Executive director.
  • Provide creative offerings around holidays and special occasions.
  • Provide refreshments for specific programs and meetings upon request.
  • Prepare food for special events when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Three to five years of directly related experience with kitchen operations. 
  • Experience working with Senior Citizen population preferred. 
  • Must be serve safe certified or ability to be certified.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with other employees and the public; must have strong interpersonal skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job is in a dynamic municipal building. While performing the duties of the Kitchen Coordinator, the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular and sustained periods of moderate physical exertion, requiring ability to lift, move furniture, and carry and position objects utilizing proper mechanics and techniques.  Ability to lift 10-25lbs.

HOURS

Monday 9:00AM – 12:00PM

Tuesday – Friday 8:00AM – 12:00PM

19 Hours per week

SALARY

Starting rate $18.06 - $19.16 an hour

Annual increases up to $23.56 an hour
