DPW GENERAL LABORER/ EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The Town of Clarksburg is seeking an individual for the position of General Laborer/Equipment Operator within the Department of Public Works. This is a full-time position a full time/ 40 hours per week position with benefits including paid time-off, state/federal holidays, pension, health, life, and dental insurance. 

The desired candidate will perform a wide range of tasks which requires manual labor, truck driving, general maintenance of trucks and equipment, as well as other duties as assigned.

Applicant should have H.S. diploma or equivalent, along with knowledge, experience and skill in the construction trades and/or working knowledge of construction equipment, operations and maintenance. Must have ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions; must possess a valid Class B CDL, 2B and 4G Hoisting License.

• Preference will be given to those with Class B CDL, 2B and 4G Hoisting License
• Frequent strenuous physical effort generally required in performing work in the field.  Frequent heavy lifting in excess of 50 pounds required. 
• Ability to work within confined areas such as trenches, vehicles, etc.  for extended periods of time.  
• Working knowledge of construction equipment operation and mechanics.
• Working knowledge or ability to learn basic construction trades such as masonry, carpentry, etc.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions and carry out assigned tasks and work independently and as a team.
• Ability to be patient and polite with members of public and co-workers.
• Possession of a Class D motor vehicle license required. 
• Basic National Incidence Management System/Incident Command System training will be required.
