Child Care of the Berkshires is a large not-for profit, early care and family support agency, operating a variety of programs throughout Berkshire County, including child care centers, a network of family child care homes, home visiting programs, parent child playgroups, parent education and skill building programs.

Its mission is to promote and strengthen families through the provision of high quality child care services to families whose parents are working or in training or, for any number of reasons, cannot adequately care for the children as well as other types of social and educational services which directly affect families and their well being.

SEEKING:             Program Manager for Family Support Programs

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This senior management position oversees the coordination of the various family support and home visiting services of Child Care of the Berkshires to ensure high quality, effective and impactful programming in Berkshire County.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include program evaluation, supervision of program directors, and goal setting.  In addition, other responsibilities include data collection, grant writing, adhering to contracting specifications, budget monitoring, service re-contracting in conjunction with various program directors.  This position also serves as a liaison with community and funding agencies. The Program Manager of Family Support Program works as a member of the Senior Management Team to achieve CCB’s mission and goals.

UALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in social work, counseling or education or related field and a minimum of three years relevant work experience. Prefer Master’s degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local human services programs, childcare programs, public schools and community resources is desirable.
  • Must have good organization skills and the ability to prioritize, to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide leadership, to supervise, to coach and mentor, including planning and assigning work and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to establish supportive and positive relationships with others and to work as member of a team.
  • Positive attitude, understanding and commitment toward Strengthening Families philosophy and family support.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity and competency with computers and software required.
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a professional and collegial manner with a team of diverse professionals, funding sources and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the overall mission and values of Child Care of the Berkshires.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

Employees work under typical office conditions, at a desk or workstation, and the noise level is usually quiet.  Employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repeatedly to finger, handle and operate standard office equipment; reach with both hands and lift up to 25 pounds.  Some time may also be spent on home visits with family home visitors. Visual acuity is required for documenting legibly and accurately, for analyzing written information and determining accuracy and thoroughness of work. Must be able to provide documentation of good physical health, freedom of communicable diseases, and evidence of up-to-date immunizations.

WORK YEAR: Year round, Full-time position. 35 hours a week.

SALARY RANGE:   $29-$32 per hour with benefits, 35 hours per week
