MASS MoCA, one of the world’s liveliest and largest contemporary art organizations in the US, is seeking an experienced Manager of Institutional Giving to sustain and expand MASS MoCA’s institutional fundraising program, which supports an annual operating goal of $10M (approximately $3 million of which is institutional funding), as well as capital goal of approximately $5 million.
The Manager of Institutional Giving is a key role in MASS MoCA’s growing Advancement team, working closely with the Director of Institutional Giving to increase its institutional fundraising efforts at an exciting and dynamic time at the museum as we launch a campaign supporting MASS MoCA's Strategic Plan, which envisions innovative programming, bolstered resources, and transformed spaces. The role will provide critical, sustained resourcing for MASS MoCA’s work accompanying artists across both the visual and performing arts in developing their creative practices, as well as making and presenting new work to our global audiences.
This position will require engaging with major institutional funders, family foundations, and government donors. The manager will work with program colleagues to lead, manage, and develop strategy for a high-profile portfolio of grants and prospects by developing and managing letters of interest, proposals, and reports and identifying and coordinating approaches to prospective funders across the organization.
The manager will also provide as-needed support to the Director of Institutional Giving in managing their portfolio and will partner with the team to develop engagement opportunities for donors and prospects; strengthen team-wide systems; and build the institutional fundraising capacity of the organization as a whole.
The successful candidate will be able to write outstanding grant proposals that demonstrate dexterity with language and the ability to convey our organizational vision and programming with nuance and urgency. The role requires capacity in the financial side of the grants process, including developing budgets, requesting payments, and creating financial reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supporting the director as they work with program teams in their portfolio, as needed
- Supports advancement events as needed
- Supports the maintenance of department tracking tools, including deadline lists and income projections
