Position Summary

 The Museum Shop Associate helps create a friendly, welcoming experience for visitors while supporting daily museum store operations during the busy seasonal period. This part-time seasonal role requires reliable weekend availability and flexibility during peak visitation times.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Greet and assist visitors with purchases and questions.
    • Share information about museum exhibitions, events, and merchandise.
    • Operate the register and process transactions accurately.
    • Open and close the store following procedures.
    • Stock and organize merchandise displays.
    • Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing.
    • Assist with seasonal events and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training, and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable, flexible and able to work in a fast paced seasonal environment.

Schedule Requirements

  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Occasional evening shifts required.
  • Flexible availability preferred during holidays, events and peak season periods.
  • Applicants unable to work weekends will not be considered.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 months’ relevant experience preferred.

  • Physical Demands: Physical Demands:
    • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Ability to bend, reach and move throughout the store.
    • Ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in a retail store and museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high. Working weekends and occasional evenings during events and peak season is required.
