General Description:

Performs a variety of tasks in the operation, maintenance, renovation, purchasing and repair of the Brien Center facilities.  Responsible for the supervision of the housekeeping and maintenance staff.  Performs coordination and oversight of capital projects.  Ensures compliance with licensing, building and insurance regulations.  Acts as a liaison with landlords, outside contractors and vendors.  Serves as an internal consultant to site managers in relation to facility issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities related to the operation, maintenance and construction of facilities, equipment, buildings and grounds.
  • Design and development of building facilities and formulation of operating policies and procedures to maintain compliance with leases, building code regulations and clinic licenses.
  • Hire, train and provide technical guidance to the staff for maintenance, custodial and mail courier.
  • Responsible for facility security protocols, alarm systems and contact with alarm vendors.
  • Develop a 3 year strategic plan for upgrading and maintaining facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinates all aspects of capital projects.
  • Participate in negotiations of new leases and renewals.
  • Work with landlords related to maintenance responsibilities and issues.
  • Manage all vendor maintenance contracts and coordinate work performed at all Brien Center locations.
  • Oversee and coordinate local and state building permitting, licensing and inspections.
  • Oversee and coordinate MAAB activities for compliance with code regulations.
  • Plans, monitors and adheres to building department budgets.
  • Inspects facilities along with reviewing inspection reports to determine repairs or improvements required to keep facility in compliance.
  • Develop and maintain a maintenance help desk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the principles and policies of the agency.
  • Represent the agency in a professional manner in all community contacts.
  • Provide 24/7 emergency coverage and provide with Facilities supervisor on-call coverage.
  • Maintain and communicate a sense of support and respect for all staff and clients.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with local & state inspectors
  • Flexibly respond to program scheduled and non scheduled maintenance requirements while minimizing impact on programs.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred;
  • Valid Class D drivers license and use of personal vehicle
  • Technical experience in facility management and project management.
  • Supervisory, computer, writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with contractors and all aspects of the bidding process and building codes
  • Knowledge of techniques and materials used in maintenance and repair of facilities; safe operation of vehicles and other equipment; Mass building codes; occupational hazards and safety procedures; inventory control and general ADA standards
  • Contract Supervisor’s license or eligibility for and active pursuit of license required.
