Position Summary: Performs skilled plumbing, building and equipment maintenance and construction tasks. Work involves a combination of skills in repairing such items as plumbing, heating and electrical. This position is 70% plumber/30% maintenance mechanic 1.
Essential Functions:
- Repairs or installs plumbing fixtures and pipes such as toilets, sinks, drains, valves, hot water tanks and controls;
- Repairs burn control switches and heating related issues;
- Cleans and flushes boilers, furnaces and hot water tanks;
- Repairs or replaces electrical switches, outlets, lights, ranges, disposals, refrigerators, thermostats, fuses, etc.;
- Inspects apartments, building and grounds for work to be done, and performs necessary work;
- Makes recommendations to the foreman on upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment and tools;
- Independently perform a wide range of building and mechanical repairs and maintenance functions;
- Assist with maintaining the inventory of materials and equipment necessary to complete work and in anticipation of future work;
- Required to take his/her turn on a rotating "on-call" yearly schedule after the 6 month trial period;
- Assist with other classifications in removing snow and ice with both hand and power equipment;
- Must have knowledge and skill in using a wide range of tools and equipment such as drills, hammers, wrenches, pro press, etc.;
- Perform other job-related duties in different classifications as required;
