Letters of application are being accepted for the position of assistant principal. All applicants must be licensable by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an assistant principal. Administrator license standards are contained in the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website www.doe.mass.edu. Applicants must be able to supervise students, regulate discipline and school policy, and advise and make recommendations to the principal on all student and curriculum matters associated with a high school and have the ability to work with young adults. Applicants should be familiar with the SkillsUSA standards, www.skillsusa.org, and the Business Professionals of America (BPA) standards www.bpa.org. The ability to adapt and implement change is crucial.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years experience in administration, counseling or instruction.
- Demonstrated leadership traits and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of educational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and testing standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Education Curriculum Frameworks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Massachusetts system for educator evaluation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Massachusetts Common Core Standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards for SkillsUSA and Business Professional of America.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute the duties and responsibilities of an assistant principal as outlined in the Massachusetts DESE regulations.
- Supervise the conduct of students, enforce school policy, and implement the disciplinary code of conduct.
- Supervise a comprehensive student attendance program focused on improving attendance rates.
- Assist the principal with the evaluation of teaching and non-teaching personnel.
- Implement and supervise the implementation, distribution, collection, and inventory system for the school’s 1-to-1 Chromebook program.
- Coordinate all discipline and attendance data in the Aspen student record management system.
- Supervise student conduct in all areas, including the school cafeteria.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all required reports are complete, accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Assist the principal with supervising and implementing all standardized testing and complete reports as required.
- Assist the principal with supervising and implementing strategies to fulfill district goals and to improve student achievement.
- Ensure athletics and extra-curricular activities meet student needs and are compliant with applicable standards.
- Serve as member of Student Success Team to ensure appropriate implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions in vocational and academic areas.
- Assist the principal with coordinating all community projects and use of school facilities.
- Assist the principal with developing, implementing and supervising a comprehensive public relations and community outreach and information program.
- Develop, implement and supervise graduate follow-up surveys and reports.
- Assist the principal in the development and implementation of school safety plan and coordinate restraining training and policies.
- Assist the principal with supervising and implementing a school recruitment and admissions process.
- Assist the principal with developing and implementing all school publications and websites.
- Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the principal or the superintendent.
