Letters of application are being accepted for the position of advanced manufacturing technology instructor. All applicants must be licensed or licensable by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as an advanced manufacturing technology (machine tool technology) teacher (9-12). Teacher license standards and curriculum frameworks are available at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website (www.doe.mass.edu). Applicants should be familiar with the SkillsUSA standards (www.skillsusa.org). Applicants must be able to teach all aspects of the DESE advanced manufacturing technology (machine tool technology) curriculum and have the ability to work with young adults. Applicants are responsible for ensuring assessment data is analyzed and used to evaluate and improve curriculum and instruction. The ability to adapt and implement change is crucial.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of instructional techniques and individual learning styles.
  • Knowledge of technology assisted teaching techniques and internet-based research.
  • Knowledge of formative and summative assessment practices.
  • Knowledge of the DESE advanced manufacturing technology (machine tool technology) curriculum frameworks.
  • Knowledge of machining software programming.
  • Knowledge of formal and informal student assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of the SkillsUSA curriculum.
  • Knowledge of skills and techniques for successfully working with students on Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Accommodation Plans, and making the related necessary classroom accommodations.
  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Model System for Educator Evaluation.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the DESE advanced manufacturing technology (machine tool technology) standards-based curriculum.
  • Ensure assessment data is used to improve curriculum and instruction.
  • Utilize standards-based teaching, assessment, and grading for all aspects of the advanced manufacturing technology program.
  • Effectively plan daily lessons that are aligned to school standards, foster student engagement, and employ a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Implement all schoolwide initiatives and facilitate student’s involvement.
  • Implement the SkillsUSA curriculum.
  • Create a safe classroom environment conducive to student learning.
  • Assume the obligations ordinarily associated with the teaching profession.
  • Ability to transport students in school vehicle(s).
