We are now accepting applications for a Night Shift Custodian to join the Custodial Services team!

The Williams College Facilities Department takes pride in designing, building, operating, and maintaining a safe, beautiful, and sustainable environment for living and learning at Williams. Williams is committed to enriching its educational experience and its culture through the diversity of its faculty, administration, and staff.

All positions are full-time (40 hours per week), year-round positions in the Facilities Department.

The Night Shift Custodian Hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 6:00pm to 2:30am, and Friday and Saturday 7:00pm to 3:30am. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required as needed.

Williams College offers the following shift differntials for this position:
  • Tuesday through Thursday: $1.00/hr from 6:00pm to midnight. $2.00/hr from midnight to 2:30am
  • Firday: $1.00/hr from 7:00pm to midnight. $2.55/hr from midnight to 3:30am
  • Saturday: $1.55/hr from 7:00pm to midnight. $2.55/hr from midnight to 3:30am

Responsibilities

  • General cleaning throughout designated areas on campus
  • Light maintenance work
  • Snow shoveling in the winter
  • Bed making in the summer conference season
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Experience in general cleaning, maintenance, carpet and floor care is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Ability to comply with standing instructions provided by operating manuals, safety data sheets, safety rules and regulations for personal protection and safety regarding equipment and chemical usage.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and sanitizing dispensing units.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to utilize wearable equipment
