Role Overview: The Hopkins Memorial Forest (HMF) Groundskeeper will be an integral part of a small team dedicated to preserving the ecological and recreational value of the 2,600-acre Hopkins Memorial Forest. This role reports to the HMF Manager and requires a mix of gardening, landscaping, and trail work. This is a temporary, part-time (~20hr/week) position from mid-May through early September. Key Responsibilities:
  • Gardening and Landscaping: Upkeep of Buxton Garden (e.g., pruning, weeding, mulching, updating signs, etc.) and the Rosenburg Center grounds (e.g., mowing, trimming shrubs, etc.).
  • Trail Work: Clear fallen trees, branches, and overgrowth from trails; maintain drainage features (water bars) to prevent trail erosion.
  • General Maintenance: Minor repairs to bridges, fences, flower beds, and benches.


Qualifications:
  • Ability to perform physical labor, occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in varied weather conditions (e.g., heat, rain, or buggy conditions).
  • Prior experience with power equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, etc.); chainsaw experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a strong "safety-first" mindset.
