Compliance Investigator

Pittsfield, MA | $30.00 per hour | Full-Time | Temporary Assignment Through December 31, 2026 (Potential Temp-to-Hire Opportunity)

A large nonprofit organization serving the Berkshire County community is seeking a detail-oriented and highly professional Compliance Investigator to join its team in Pittsfield, MA. This role is responsible for conducting thorough and objective investigations, reviewing documentation, interviewing stakeholders, and developing recommendations that support organizational compliance, quality improvement, and accountability.

The ideal candidate brings strong investigative, analytical, and communication skills, along with a commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and evidence-based decision-making.

Position Summary

The Compliance Investigator will oversee and manage investigations across multiple programs and departments, ensuring timely completion of investigative activities and compliance with applicable reporting requirements. This position collaborates with organizational leadership to identify findings, develop corrective action plans, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct compliance-related investigations in a timely, objective, and professional manner.
  • Interview employees, clients, and other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to gather and assess relevant information.
  • Review, analyze, and audit documents, records, and other evidence to support investigative findings.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive, and evidence-based investigative reports, including conclusions and recommendations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the investigative process.
  • Manage multiple active investigations simultaneously while meeting established deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and support corrective action plans, performance improvement initiatives, and quality assurance processes.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure follow-up actions are implemented and outcomes are monitored.
  • Maintain an unbiased and objective perspective throughout all stages of an investigation.
  • Utilize technology and data systems effectively to document, track, and report investigative activities.
  • Support organizational compliance efforts and continuous improvement initiatives across programs.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience conducting compliance investigations, workplace investigations, audits, quality assurance reviews, risk assessments, or closely related work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience conducting investigatory interviews and gathering information from individuals with varying backgrounds and experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate written reports.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience reviewing and auditing documents as part of an investigative process.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and other workplace technology tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience developing performance improvement plans, quality assurance programs, corrective action plans, or compliance initiatives.
  • Candidates with significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Standard schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Occasional flexibility required to meet with employees working second or third shifts, including limited early morning or evening hours.
  • Primary work location is Pittsfield, MA.
  • Potential for a hybrid/remote work arrangement after successful onboarding and demonstrated performance.
Compensation & Assignment Length
  • $30.00 per hour
  • Assignment expected to continue through December 31, 2026, at minimum
