Berkshire County Arc is a non-profit human service agency that has been providing community-based services to adults with developmental disabilities and/or brain injuries for over 50 yrs. Berkshire County Arc’s mission is to assist and support individuals in their quest to identify and realize their chosen lifestyles. This is accomplished through various programs offered: residential homes including independent apartments, employment services, day programs, adult family care, transitions, advocacy & family support, special needs pooled trusts and a mail-house staffed by people with disabilities that serves dozens of businesses across Western Massachusetts.

Berkshire County Arc’s programs are offered in Berkshire County and Pioneer Valley. We serve nearly 1,000 individuals per year and have over 700 dedicated staff.

Under the direction of the Manager of Evaluation & Placement, the Employment Specialist is responsible to provide training for all students referred to PETS and assist other referrals to obtain employment opportunities. 

Responsibilities:

  • To conduct an intake process for all students referred for MRC Prevocational Employment & Training Services.
  • To conduct trainings with the Work-Readiness curriculum.
  • To develop internships for each student and assist and monitor their work at the internship.
  • To provide Job Exploration Counseling and finalize with them a written career plan for each student.

 

  • Minimum BA and one year experience in Human Services or teaching/training field. Experience in a vocational rehabilitation in supported employment program preferred.   *5 years’ experience in a rehabilitation program or supported employment program may be accepted as a substitute for educational requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
