JOB SUMMARY: The Plasma Operator is responsible for the setup, operation and tending of the (CNC) Plasma Table and supporting equipment. He/she produces parts created using the plasma table while maintaining quality and safety standards.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Receive processing direction and nesting table from Engineering and Supervisor
• Set up and operate plasma table to cut parts used in the creation of vehicles
• Identify and verify proper gauge and type of steel to be cut
• Load table by lifting steel into position using crane and various other lifting devices
• Maintain specifications by observing plasma table cutting, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls
• Replace worn consumables adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
• Examine cuts visually or by hand to verify quality and accuracy
• Grind edges of material using a pneumatic grinder
• Monitor instruments such as pressure gauges, indicators or meters to ensure optimum processing conditions
• Maintain continuity by communicating and documenting actions, irregularities and ongoing need
• Maintain all documentation including time sheets, and nest reports
• Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, trouble shoot malfunctions and inform supervisor of problems and malfunctions that occur
• Remove debris from machine by running slagger
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Identify abnormalities and repairs required as result of internal actions and advise the supervisor accordingly
• Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction
• Work in an efficient and timely manner
• Undertake relevant training and development as required
• Carry out work orders within a realistic time line ensuring that deadlines are met
• Maintain cooperative working relationships, and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
• Record all hours worked accurately
