Mount Greylock Regional School District includes Lanesborough and Williamstown representing a combined population of 11,000 residents. Our District is comprised of three schools: Lanesborough Elementary (PreK-6), Williamstown Elementary (PreK-6) and Mount Greylock Regional School (7-12). Total enrollment is approximately 1200 students. Position Title: Temporary School Social Worker – Long-Term Substitute

School: Mount Greylock Regional School 

Location: Williamstown, MA

FTE: 1.0 FTE Temporary Assignment anticipated for 9/30 - 10/26 and 1/4 - 1/19

 

Compensation: $260.00 per day (District Long-Term Educator Rate)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required.
  • Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Strong understanding of MTSS frameworks and experience designing and implementing SEL and behavioral interventions in school settings.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and equity-centered student support systems.
  • Working knowledge of IEP/504 processes and capacity to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years experience in school or clinical settings preferred.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions (which include but are not limited to):

  • Foster meaningful connections with students, staff, and families, becoming a go-to support and valued presence throughout the school environment.
  • Serve as a resource and partner with instructional staff, supporting student well-being and behavior in the classroom.
  • Take a leadership role in the coordination of student support services, including Student Support Team (SST) meetings to identify needs and track student progress.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and carry out, track, and evaluate targeted MTSS interventions.
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling that supports students' emotional well-being, social development, and academic readiness.
  • Model and promote equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices throughout all student support work.
  • Facilitate staff professional learning and offer consultative support around student behavior, mental health, trauma-informed practices, and SEL.
  • Actively engage with families to build strong, trusting relationships and connect them with community-based resources and supports.
  • Leadership role in crisis response and intervention efforts; contribute to schoolwide safety, climate, and wellness planning.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations, including documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
