Hoosac Valley Regional School District is seeking qualified candidates for daily on-call substitute paraprofessional positions for Grades Preschool to 12 for the current school year. Substitute paraprofessionals are responsible for assisting students in regular and special education settings. Candidates must be reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality and be willing to work in various classroom settings grades Pre K-12. Experience preferred but not required. The expectations for the position are:

  • Carries out a plan for supporting students in regular and special education classroom settings. Helps teacher maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives in accordance with students' IEPs. 
  • Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for helping students meet lesson objectives.
  • May perform duties usually required of absent paraprofessional such as hall monitoring.
  • Assists teachers in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

Hours are 7:30-2:00 at Hoosac Valley High School, 8:00-2:45 at Hoosac Valley Middle School, and 8:45-3:15 at Hoosac Valley Middle School.  Rate of pay is $85 per day. High School Diploma or GED  required. Approved CORI/DCF background checks are also required. This is a non-benefited position.
