The Title I Reading Tutor provides targeted literacy intervention to students identified through the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Title I program. Working under the direction of the Assistant Principal of Teaching & Learning, the Reading Tutor delivers evidence-aligned literacy instruction to individuals and small groups of students to accelerate reading achievement.
This position requires an individual who is passionate about literacy, committed to student growth, and able to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations. The Reading Tutor collects and analyzes student data, collaborates closely with District Reading Interventionist and classroom teachers, and faithfully implements district-approved instructional practices and intervention programs.
Essential ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support
- Provide high-quality, evidence-aligned literacy intervention to individual students and small groups.
- Implement district-approved reading intervention programs with fidelity.
- Deliver explicit instruction in foundational literacy skills, including:
- Phonemic awareness
- Phonics and decoding
- Fluency
- Vocabulary
- Language
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs and assessment data.
- Reinforce classroom literacy instruction while supporting individual student goals.
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that builds student confidence and motivation.
Progress Monitoring & Data Collection
- Administer literacy screening and progress-monitoring assessments as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, intervention minutes, assessment results, and progress.
- Collect and organize student data to inform instructional decisions.
- Communicate student progress regularly with teachers and the Title I Coordinator.
- Participate in data meetings and use assessment information to adjust instruction.
