Responsibilities for this Position

Summary: Solder, wire, rework and repair R&R Printed Circuit Board Assemblies using life cycle techniques on both surface mount and through-hole hardware. Operator must be proficient in removing /installing aged components, on one of a kind hardware, in densely populated areas without damaging lands or pads.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include the following, but are not limited to)

  • Rework critical, high value, one of a kind circuit cards while adhering to mil-standard applications, where the basic assembly processes require judgment and experience.
  • The process is further complicated by having many delicate adjacent parts at the end of their life cycle in close proximity with the area being reworked. When disturbed these often obsolete parts must be reworked using extreme caution and to very rigid quality demands.
  • Able to use a microscope to soldering rework for extended periods. Skilled at soldering and board rework (surface mount and thru-hole technology) of fine pitch devices. Dexterity, steady hand to manipulate and position extremely small devices The operator will be required to exercise continual mental-visual concentration, understand board geometry as it applies to the application of heat and considerable responsibility.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, removing of conformal coat, soldering/desoldering, cleaning, bonding of surface mount and plated through components on various substrates, maintaining the work area, minor ident, and verification of assembly/wire through simple test/measurement and inspection procedures.
  • Additional duties include completion of extensive paperwork and/or computer entry of data to maintain detailed configuration records, and control of various special and standard tools required for all related operations.
  • Read, interpret, and work to; drawings, schematics, wiring lists and diagrams, work instructions, quality tracking forms, and government documents such as SPALT or OD’s.
    • Standardization is limited, requiring interpretation of planning and instructions of considerable scope in a rework/ repair environment

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Operator must be able to obtain other certificates, licenses and registrations, as required for this position.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute ratios, percent and interpret graphs.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to question instructions when they are unclear.

  • Security Clearance when required.
  • Solder and wire certification including visual acuity and color perception tests.

    • Certified IPC, J-STD-001 - Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and climb stairs and / or to use hands to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; and talk and hear for 8 hours a day.  The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without mechanical assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to some variation in work area temperature, moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Target salary range: USD $29.05/Hr. - USD $29.05/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Basic Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Related experience and or training
  • Candidate will have to complete, with passing results, the IPC 7711/7721 Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies training and IPC J-STD 001 (Class 3) Requirements for Solder Electrical and Electronic Assemblies training for consideration and sustainment of the position.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
