Industrial Wastewater Technician

Location: Pittsfield, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM; overtime as needed
Pay: $23.00–$27.00 per hour, based on experience and licensing

Our client is seeking an Industrial Wastewater Technician to join their manufacturing operation in Pittsfield, MA. This position is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and testing of industrial wastewater treatment systems while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, safety requirements, and facility standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and wastewater, industrial maintenance, environmental, or related experience.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, chemical dosing systems, and related machinery.
  • Monitor treatment processes and key parameters including pH levels, flow rates, and system performance.
  • Perform hazardous waste duties, including inspections, shipping, training, and maintenance of storage areas in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Troubleshoot treatment system issues and perform routine and preventative maintenance, including cleaning equipment and replacing worn components.
  • Handle and apply wastewater treatment chemicals, including biocides, coagulants, inhibitors, and pH-adjusting agents.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate chemical inventory for treatment processes.
  • Collect wastewater samples at various stages of treatment and perform required chemical and biological testing.
  • Maintain accurate logs of operating parameters, test results, maintenance activities, incidents, and system deviations.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain compliance with environmental regulations and wastewater treatment permits.
  • Maintain and operate the facility's reverse osmosis system.
  • Test and maintain facility chiller water systems, including adding inhibitor and biocide chemicals as required.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, supervisors, and other team members to maintain and improve system performance.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain the required Level II wastewater license.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a consistent attendance record.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in industrial wastewater treatment, environmental operations, manufacturing maintenance, or a related field.
  • Vocational or technical training, particularly in machine shop, mechanical, or industrial disciplines.
  • Current wastewater treatment licensing is highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits

$23.00–$27.00 per hour, based on experience and wastewater licensing.
