DEFINITION:
The Paraprofessional is responsible for providing academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support to students who receive special education services. Additionally, the Paraprofessional may also be responsible for assisting individual children in completion of personal care and daily living skills.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the supervision of certified school personnel and under the general supervision of the principal. The performance of these functions may require the exercise of independent judgment of the paraprofessional in a range of instructional, supervision and other assigned duties.
JOB ENVIRONMENT:
Typical school-site environment.
Uses computers and other appropriate general and specific equipment.
Is expected to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with parents, professional and administrative staff, and other school community members, as instructed.
Has some access to department-oriented confidential information such as report cards and health information.
Errors in job performance could result in loss of service, lower educational achievement, safety hazards, monetary loss to the district, and adverse public relations.
